When I first made the move from Texas to Eureka College, I wasn’t entirely sure what I’d find—but I knew I was looking for something more. More opportunities, more challenges, and more room to grow. What I found was all of that and so much more through my time as a double major in Philosophy/Religion and Sociology/Psychology, with a minor in Political Science—and especially through the Disciples Leadership Program (DLP).
The DLP was one of the biggest reasons I chose Eureka. I was drawn in by its promise of new experiences and academic development, but what I didn’t fully expect was just how much it would shape the person I’ve become. Recently, as I stood in front of students and faculty to present my Honors Thesis, it all came full circle. That moment wasn’t just the end of a project—it was a reflection of a journey, one filled with transformation, connection, and discovery.
Being part of the DLP has challenged me in the best ways. I’ve wrestled with ideas that stretched my understanding of leadership and faith. I’ve grown close with a community of fellow DLP students who have become more than peers—they’ve become friends who have walked alongside me through the highs and lows of college life.
What stands out most, though, is how grounded I feel—how this program and this college have become a true home. Every step I’ve taken has been supported by a community that believes in growth, in leadership, and in each other. Through the DLP, I’ve not only stepped into leadership roles on campus, but I’ve also become a more thoughtful, compassionate, and faithful person.
Eureka College and the DLP have shaped me in lasting ways. They’ve helped guide my path not just as a student, but as a leader and a person of faith. I’m incredibly grateful for the journey I’ve been on—and even more excited for where it will lead next.
