I’m Evan Gillespie. I study Environmental Science and philosophy/religion, and I came to Eureka because I love the small, connected feeling here and the personal relationships you can form. Some impactful experiences I have had through my fellowship are when I went on a mission trip to Colorado Springs, CO and worked at a place called Crossfire Ministries. It is a food pantry organized operated similar to a grocery store. It was an amazing experience to see the care for our neighbors in need and work side by side with the volunteers to help people facing food insecurity. Another experience that shaped how I think about service is when I led a group called ‘Interact’ which is the high school version of Rotary. I learned how to plan service activities and what it means to lead a group of people. These experiences prepared me to explore ways I can be a leader here at Eureka College and beyond. I look forward to how the DLP program will help me build more connections with DOC ministers and grow my faith in the DOC church
